5 parks throughout the city
Seeking dancers proficient in contemporary, modern, ballet, and jazz dance styles for our 2021 summer season of 5 outdoor performances in Chicago’s parks. Hiring professional company dancers and college-level apprentices.
Dancers must be available for ALL rehearsals and performances.
Our 2021 season will be small. We are hiring fewer artists and doing fewer shows than past seasons in order to be COVID-safe for our artists and our audiences. All dancers must be willing to work under all requested safety protocols including wearing a mask, maintaining safe spacing, using hand sanitizer, and all other requests made by DIP, our rehearsal space, and the Chicago Park District.
Due to the limited number of dancers we can have in our audition studio, dancers must apply to audition. We will reach out to those we are interested in for participation.
Required: Resumé (pdf), headshot (jpg), link to reel.
Sunday, March 28 12:30-3:00.
Audition will include short ballet class, contemporary repertory, and process-oriented movement generation/improvisation
CALL FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS
dANCE IN THE PARKS seeks CHOREOGRAPHERS TO CREATE NEW WORKS FOR OUR 2021 OUTDOOR SEASON.
Choreographers must be available during the rehearsal period posted above. All styles and themes are welcome.
Works for our 2021 season MUST take COVID restrictions into consideration. We would prefer pieces made in small groups (1-4 dancers) to accommodate safe spacing. Unless we hire dancers who currently live together, partnering is not likely.
To start the conversation, please email the following information to email@example.com by March 13, 2021.
- Link to video of a complete work choreographed by you, not a clip reel
- A quick introduction
- Some ideas you might have for a new piece for DIP in summer 2021. This doesn't need to be a formal proposal, nor will we hold anyone to first ideas. We just want to start the conversation.
