

An Asian-American dance artist originally from North Carolina, Ben began dancing when they were fourteen years old at their local high school, training primarily in modern, contemporary, jazz and ballet. After high school, Ben went on to the Boston Conservatory at Berklee where they trained daily and performed works by Jennifer Archibald, Bill T. Jones, and Kurt Douglas. After spending two years at the Conservatory, they moved to New York City to join the GibneyPro Cohort led by Alexandra Wells where they worked with choreographers Sidra Bell, Peter Chu, Lea Ved, and Laja field. At the conclusion of GibneyPro, Ben moved to Chicago to join South Chicago Dance Theatre, founded and led by Kia S. Smith. With SCDT, Ben has had the opportunity to perform at the Auditorium and Harris theatres in works by Kate Weare, Tsai-Hsi Hung, Kia Smith, Donald Byrd, and David Dorfman. This is Ben’s first season with Dance in the Parks.
