Carlie has been dancing since she was three years old and is now a 16-year-old rising senior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. She currently trains at American Dance Center in Orland Park. Her recent performances with their youth company garnered her a scholarship for the Summer Dance Intensive at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in summer 2026. Highlights of her dance training include participating in a one-week summer intensive at Alvin Ailey, dancing at Times Square with the American Dance Center’s “Vibrance and Radiance” performance team, and performing as a “Hiplet Next” dancer directed by Homer Hans Bryant at Chicago Multicultural Dance Center.
Carlie is currently Miss Black Illinois Teen of 2026. Her platform “Dancing Through Darkness” connects financially challenged community members to dance training opportunities. Her fundraising efforts pay for class tuition, dance shoes, and class clothes for young dancers. Carlie loves to help others experience the joy and confidence she takes from her own dance training.
After graduation, Carlie plans to major in dance at an HBCU with goals of dancing in a professional company and building her own dance studio.
Dance is Carlie’s passion, and she loves entertaining audiences. She’s excited and grateful to spend the summer with the Dance in the Parks!
