Katie (she/her) is a Chicago-based teacher and director. Before moving to Chicago in 2004, she was a company member with Kentucky Ballet Theatre in Lexington, Kentucky, where she performed principal and soloist roles in Giselle, Paquita, Dracula, The Nutcracker, and a range of repertory works. In Chicago, she performed as a freelance dancer in works by choreographers Peter Carpenter, Autumn Eckman, Emily Stein, August Tye, and others.
Katie has taught ballet technique, pointe, and repertory to dancers of all ages and experience levels for more than 25 years. She was on the faculty of Dance Academy of Libertyville and Extensions Dance Center for over a decade. She has also taught company class for several professional dance companies in Chicago and served as ballet mistress for Nomi Dance Company. Her students have gone on to prestigious collegiate dance programs and professional careers in ballet, contemporary, and commercial dance.
Above all, Katie is grateful for the opportunity to have taught and produced dance alongside the extraordinary artists of Chicago, bringing performances and engaging artistic experiences to communities throughout the city she is proud to call home.
